Charter review

Pepper Pike's Charter is over 60 years old. Every single surrounding Community has updated their charters recently.  That is a fact.

Updating our Charter was a good idea...until

Many residents told me they felt the process felt rushed.

I recognized this was polarizing the Community and that the review needed more work and discussion.

I brought this resident feedback to the Council and recommended taking the issue off the Spring ballot for more discussion. Unfortunately my idea did not gain traction.

Pepper Pike City Council meeting 4/22/25

Here's what I said about the Charter review:

"this conversation has become clouded. Neighbors are becoming really polarized over this and unwilling to compromise.

This should be a constructive process designed to make our charter the best it can be and bring people together. It seems very achievable.

We owe it to the public to make this the best document it can be to the greatest amount of people.

Our job as Council is to listen to the residents and keep our community the place where we all want to thrive.

Every single member of Council has voiced support for charter review; why is the community still so polarized about it? What are we missing? Should we pause this and consider modifying it or allowing the community to have more input? I’d like to hear from my fellow Council members"
